Today, in my One Year Bible I read Psalm 77:1-20 and verse 19 stood out.
“Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen [or unknown in Hebrew].”
In the following verse the psalmist Asaph makes it clear that this refers to Yahweh leading His people through the red sea by Moses and Aaron.
Yahweh is purposeful in His ways. Leading His people from slavery into freedom. Instead of having to wade into the sea which in the Ancient Near East would be understood as chaos, disorder, destruction or a place of darkness, Yahweh makes a path where they cross safely on dry land. He orderly holds back the waters of the sea for His people to freely pass. Certainly, this is amazingly supernatural.
And yet you could not see His footprints, even though He was there. So much more, He is there for those who believe in and love Him, Romans 8:28. He makes a way, an orderly way that sends ripples across the world for your good.
Do you trust Him? He is there and He is working 🙂
